Bankruptcy fears for University of Gloucestershire
The spectre of bankruptcy is looking large over Gloucestershire University. The troubled institution denies claims that it is faced with the prospect of claim bankruptcy, following new government plans for its poorest performing centres of education to be closed down.
The university is, its bosses claim, in the best health in which it has been for three years. This is contrary to a report in the Daily Telegraph which suggests that the university could be one of three heavily affected by a proposed university white paper due for next autumn.
Given the university bosses suggestion that the university's finances are in good health, it is interesting that its current debt solutions include plans to sell its Cheltenham-based Pittville campus. In April this year it sold its London-based campus for £9.7 milllion.
