Debt collectors operating on behalf of the Finnish firm Help Loans have halted the pursuit of those alleged to have borrowed money from the firm. A massive fraud operation carried out by criminals not associated with either Help Loans or the debt collectors, has caused credit to be given on behalf of around 9,000 innocent British people who did not know their identities were being used to defraud Help Loans. One of the many companies offering 'payday loans' intended as short-term debt solution for those seeking a cash-boost before they are next paid, Help Loans say the fraud has cost the firm around £1.5m so far. Help Loans has been trading only since the summer of this year.
